Krista Merritt
Krista Merritt is the Director of EMS Education and AHA Training Center Coordinator for the Northwest Regional Training Center. She has been involved in EMS since 2000, and has worked both for the Fire Department as a Firefighter/EMT as well as the hospital as an Emergency Department Technician. Her credentials include an Associates of Arts Degree from Clark College, Certification as a Senior EMS Instructor, EMT certification as well as a CNA Certification for the State of Washington and is currently working on her Registered Nurse (RN) degree. In 2004 she was deployed by FEMA to work as disaster relief after hurricane Ivan went through Florida and Alabama. She was deployed again after Katrina hit Louisiana in 2005 and after returning home she was trained by FEMA as a disaster generalist. Krista spent two seasons as a wild-land firefighter on Washington and Oregon fires for East County Fire and Rescue where she earned her red card crew boss. Krista started her career in education as a AHA CPR and First Aid Instructor in 2001, started teaching EMT in 2005 and filled the position as Director in 2010.
Riza Russum
Riza is Fire District 5's Administrative Services Analyst. She is responsible for the Training Center's cash management functions, which includes receipts and disbursements.
Cindy Simukka
Cindy had been with the Northwest Regional Training Center since 2002, and currently serves as the Health and Safety Programs Coordinator. As such, she is responsible for scheduling and arranging of all Health and Safety classes. In addition to these responsibilities, Cindy is also a county, state and nationally recognized exam proctor and oversees the NWRTC EMS exam schedule.
